Members £1 donations into the British Judo Trust has unfortunately over recent years decreased, at the same time grant aid has reduced. Resulting in even more financial help being requested from the Trust for our young players.
This decrease is a result of so many people now purchasing their BJA licence on line, and this method is proving over complicated for members to donate £1 into the Trust.
The Trust has over the past 10 years helped over 300 young players. This year alone the trust has assisted numerous Senior and Junior Squad members attend competitions and training camps all over the World. Many of the young players who have had assistance have gone on to win both International and Commonwealth medals.
To try and address this decrease in donations I am very pleased that Dave Allen of Vikings Judo Club and Chairman of Western Area together with Peter Blewett of The Budokwai Judo Club and Chairman of London Area have proposed and seconded an AGM Resolution as follows;
That £1 be added to all BJA annual membership fees from 1st January 2016 and these proceeds go to help support the work of The British Judo Trust ( this will replace the current voluntary donation )
Please could I ask for your Area Clubs support in getting this resolution Passed by the usual voting process of either postal or at the AGM
With thanks, yours in judo
Vice President and Chairman British Judo Trust
